Ten individuals found guilty of online harassment against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has convicted ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced charges of disseminating untruths regarding her sex and sexuality, in addition to making hurtful comments about the husband and wife's significant age difference.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of up to eight months to the defendants. The full ruling has still to be made public.
A persistent unfounded claim suggesting that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the Brigitte Macron's identity.
Their legal filing alleges that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations in favour of give a platform to established defamers.
Owens has often echoed these allegations on her podcast and social media channels, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she taught at his secondary school.
The two married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
