Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in southeastern Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday morning after powerful weather events swept through the state, bringing wind gusts hitting 109km/h.

Substantial Hailstones and Extensive Destruction

Residents observed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Damp conditions were forecast to persist along significant areas of eastern Queensland this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.

Tomorrow was expected to become the wettest day, with persistent severe weather risk predicted across multiple regions of both states.

Public health experts alerted that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
