Automobiles in Germany's Town Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Police stated they were contacted by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Officers say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say early analysis show the fluid was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are presently not aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.

City officials announced they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.

An important representative stated the attack made him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of migrant background in 2020.
